Dr. Ali Mehdi Zadeh, Consultant Urologist at Kuwaiti German Urology Unit in Kuwait elaborates on the relationship between high-protein diet, uric acid and calcium in the occurrence of  kidney stones.

According to him, Uric acid stones are formed when the urine is acidic in nature, diet rich in purines like animal protein i.e fish, meats & shellfish increases the amount of uric acid in urine and too much uric acid reacts with calcium to form uric acid stones.
