Dietary habits coupled with sedentary lifestyle is a deadly combination for kidney stone occurrence in Kuwait, according to Dr. Ali Mehdi Zadeh, Consultant Urologist and Head of Kuwaiti German Urology Unit, CEO & Partner at Kuwait Medical International Company.

Kidney stones are mainly composed of a substance commonly known as ‘Oxalate’ and there are some foods that are high in oxalate and their consumption has to be regulated in order to prevent the formation of kidney stones. Foods like strawberries, black-tea, nuts, beetroot, okra, spinach, rhubarb, chocolates, calcium supplements, animal proteins like eggs, meat & fish and sodium content are rich in oxalate.
