Recurrence UTI & Cystitis in Female – Treatment by expert urologists at Kuwait Medical International KMI
The urinary tract infection affects more females than males, it is particularly important in children and it is mostly caused by bacteria.
Symptoms:
1. The urgent need to urinate and increased frequency during day and night
2. Burning sensation and pain during urination.
3. Just some few drops of urine during every urination session.
4. The presence of blood in the urine.
5. The urine is turbid and smelly.
The upper urinary tract infection is often accompanied by fever, pain in the loins, general fatigue and exhaustion.
Contamination (by bacteria ascending in the urinary tract) occurs in many stages:
1 – Contamination of the vagina and urethra with bacteria from the anus or from a previous infection which was not treated completely.
2 – Movement of bacteria through the urethra to the bladder, urethra in the female short facilitate this process.
And of the factors that facilitate the transmission of bacteria to the bladder, sexual activity for females and the urethra and bladder catheterization.
3 – the proliferation of bacteria in the bladder.
UTI causes reflux of urine from the bladder to the ureter
Tests to evaluate the urinary tract:
1 – Urine routine analysis and culture: Urine sample is collected in a certain way and you should take the sample in the middle of urination process and not the beginning or the end to avoid contamination with bacteria in the sample after.
2 – Urography: It is mainly used to rectify birth defect or blockage in the urinary tract and also for cases of recurrent UTI in women, men and children.
3 – A simple x-ray of the abdomen along with ultra-sound which can find stones or a blockage.
The Cystoscopy is recommended in case of recurrent UTI or the presence of blood in the urine.
Treatment:
Consult a doctor as soon as possible for treatment when there are symptoms of urinary tract infections.
