Premature ejaculation is a common and embarrassing problem, mainly among adolescent and young men in Kuwait and is one of the most common sexual disorders in men, according to Dr. Ali Mehdi Zadeh, Consultant Urologist and Head of Kuwaiti German Urology Unit, Kuwait.

“The main symptom of this disorder is uncontrolled, spontaneous & swift ejaculation either prior to, or shortly after intercourse begins with minimal sexual stimulation & satisfaction. “

Premature ejaculation also causes emotional, psychological and mental distress and if left untreated, it will not only directly affect the self confidence of the affected individual, but can also cause imbalance in the physical relationships with his partner, since he will not be able to satisfy her in the bed.

Premature ejaculation is mainly caused by psychological issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, nervous breakdown, sorrow, distress, anguish guilt or even exaggerated masturbation. Medical related issues like injuries, certain diseases or the side effects of some medicines, hormonal imbalance, drug abuse, alcohol & tobacco etc. also leads to premature ejaculation.

“Premature ejaculation might be severe in some cases, for instance, if the individual ejaculates even before the penetration, the couple will be unable to conceive. It is advisable to seek medical attention for severe and mild disorder of premature ejaculation,” concluded Dr. Ali Mehdi Zadeh.
